Hello, i'm a CNA in iowa & was wondering if you knew of any alzheimer's courses around Southern Iowa I work in Oskaloosa, IA & would like to get a more intense training in dealing with people with dimentia including alzheimer's & many other mental health issues. I worked in an alzheimer's unit of only 10 people, now i work with many whom have dementia, many mental health issues & many others they are all together no one is seperated I deal very well with these people, however my actual training & understanding of some issues particularly violent episodes, i'm not exactly sure how to handle them & need to learn all i can to give my extended family much better care. your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Dawn

Caring for a loved one who is physically there but not there in spirit anymore is a stress which can have far reaching effects on families. Families suffer both physical and emotional stress dealing with Alzheimer's.

Vesag is a comprehensive service to support dementia patients that works as a digital memory. This device provides Dementia patient’s care givers vital support by providing the location information (Patient Tracking) and a means to communicate with them. Care givers can program the device with all the key details like name, address and contact details to remind the patient when needed. At normal times, it reminds patients of the tasks such as taking medication at the prescribed time.

Thanks for this inspiring read and the other resources on your blog. Have read the book you mention, and found it useful and inspiring as well. Another resource which really helped to look at AD a different way is a documentary film we saw called "I Remember Better When I Paint", about how creativity and art really help with AD - and how imagination and feelings are intact all the way to the end of this disease.

Good advice for caregivers of someone with Alzheimer's Disease. Making decisions as early as possible and including the person with Alzheimer's disease--or any chronic condition--when possible can make planning easier. And when it's time to make changes, it's comforting to know that the caregiver is following the desires of the person, who may not now be able to express those desires.

Dear Grandpa, is a tribute to my grandpa who died on December 17th, 2010. He suffered from Alzheimer's disease for many years, which I documented through poems and stories. Recently, I have chosen to write letters to him, so he will forever be on my mind.

My site not only serves in an intimate way, but it also shows the world just how serious this disease is. Anyone who has been through, or is currently going through this experience, is welcome to comment or email me. I can answer any questions and I hope that this can be as comforting to you as it is for me.

In addition, the traffic and clicks on the advertisements will create an income, all of which will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association to aid in research and support groups.

Please help make this dream come true. Thank you.

What a great event to hold for the community. Early detection is the best way to treat a person, and you are definitely doing right by offering this incentive! Thanks for sharing!
